Tenancy Deposit: Cleaning Standards That Actually Matter
Most deposit disputes come down to a few repeat areas. This is what landlords/agents usually check first.
Before you book a move-out clean
Tell the cleaner which deposit-risk areas need attention first: oven, limescale, skirting, windowsills, floors, and any appliances that need inside cleaning.
Request a move-out quote or compare likely extras on our pricing page.
The “top 7” they notice
- Oven and hob (grease, baked-on marks, trays)
- Bathroom limescale (taps, shower screen, grout)
- Toilet (base, behind, under rim)
- Skirting boards (dust lines, marks)
- Windowsills/frames (dust, mould spots)
- Bins (smell, residue)
- Floors (edges, corners, hair)
Photos matter
Take:
- wide shots of each room
- close-ups of oven, bathroom, windowsills
- meter readings (if relevant)
What “professionally cleaned” usually means
- visibly clean surfaces
- no limescale build-up
- no grease in kitchen
- no dust lines on skirting/frames
- floors clean at edges

Send a better move-out brief
Include property size, condition, inventory date, add-ons, and access notes in the first request. That helps cleaners scope to the real deposit-risk areas instead of giving generic ranges.
